Come join the ASSE Wisconsin Chapter celebrate the start of summer with the Lakeshore Chinooks vs. Madison Mallards on Friday July 12, 2013 at 7 P.M at Kapco Park at Concordia University.  The ASSE Wisconsin Chapter will pay for the tickets for the member and one guest and UWW student chapter members in the Usinger’s Uecker Club or Leinenkugel's Fan Dock.   This includes a ticket to the game and all you can eat Usinger’s Products and other ballpark items until the end of the 6th inning and two drink vouchers per person.  Additional tickets may be purchased for $30.00 each.  Parking is free.  Please contact:

Lynn M. Tess

We are sad to inform our members that Lynn M. Tess died on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the age of 54. Lynn was a long time and active member of the Wisconsin Chapter of ASSE. Lynn served on the Board of the Wisconsin Chapter from 1998 - 2003 and was Chapter President in 2002-2003. Lynn also served on a number of committee's over the years. Lynn will be missed by our chapter.

Visitation will be held Friday, Mar. 29 at 10 AM at the funeral home, followed by funeral services at 12 PM. Private interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

ASSE WI Chapter welcomes all new and current members to our fall programming.

Annually, our chapter presents 2 one-half day seminars as a means of updating members' safety skills. Each seminar lasts 5 hours and provides the participant with 0.5 CEU.

Please see the FLYER for registration information on our October 11, 2012 seminar.

Deadline for early registration for members at the reduced rate of $60 is Monday Oct. 8, 2012.

Hello Wisconsin Chapter ASSE Members,

June 18, 2012 - ASSE Board and Planning Meeting, Hawks View Golf Club, Lake Geneva, WI

This year's planning meeting discussed numerous items in the 2 hour time slot allotted. The planning meeting covered the Board's normal business items such as Secretary's and Treasure's reports, Officers and Committee reports, planned chapter meetings and programs, to name a few.

The new business items focused on setting the technical meeting sessions for the 2012-13 year. Several key topics for the upcoming year include:

June 18, 2012 - 16th Annual ASSE Golf Outing and Awards Recognition Dinner, Hawks View Golf Club, Lake Geneva, WI

This year, over 70 members and guests took part in the 16th Annual ASSE Golf Outing held at Hawks View golf course, Lake Geneva, WI on June 18th. The weather was hot and windy making for challenging conditions and play on the course.

Bob Schoof has been part of our local SE Wisconsin ASSE Chapter 60 years, since 1951, serving as the 1963-64 Chapter President while working for Allis-Chalmers.

Finally, the Awards and Recognition Dinner provided a great opportunity to honor current and emeritus members for the great work they have done to further the safety profession in SE Wisconsin. Many of our talented members have been with the Chapter for 40 plus years and through their dedication we have been able to sustain a chapter that is second to none, thanks for all you do.

2012-13 ASSE Wisconsin Chapter $1,000 Scholarship Award Winner

UW-Whitewater Safety Studies Senior Craig Everson (right,) Delafield, WI receives a $1,000 scholarship check for the upcoming 2012-13 school year from Chapter President Ross Lukowski at this year's golf outing and awards dinner, held at the Hawks View Golf Club, Lake Geneva , WI.

Craig is entering his senior year in Safety Studies at UW-Whitewater and currently serves as the UWW's Student Safety Organization's 2012-2013 Student Chapter President. He looks to graduate in the spring of 2013, following his internship.

Craig is a volunteer firefighter/EMT in his community, the Town of Delafield, and a member of Delafield Legion post 196. Craig went in to Environmental Safety and Health after 15 years of working in the Emergency Room as a nurse. He is passionate about the safety field and strives to now eliminate those ER visits for the people he works with.

The Wisconsin ASSE Chapter sponsors a $1,000 scholarship for students enrolled in a qualified 4 year University level Safety Studies curriculum. To be eligible, students need to submit their scholarship application to our Student Chapter Coordinator, Peter Marks, no later than April 1, 2013.

ASSE Wisconsin Chapter Technical Meeting September 13, 2012

“Safety on the Great Lakes”

Meeting Details: Captain Matthew Sibley from the US Coast Guard will be discussing ship inspections and rescues.  For over two centuries the U.S. Coast Guard has safeguarded our Nation’s maritime interests in the heartland, in the ports, at sea, and around the globe. We protect the maritime economy and the environment, we defend our maritime borders, and we save those in peril. This history has forged our character and purpose as America’s Maritime Guardian — Always Ready for all hazards and all threats.  Today’s U.S. Coast Guard, with nearly 42,000 men and women on active duty, is a unique force that carries out an array of civil and military responsibilities touching almost every facet of the U.S. maritime environment.
